Abstract
The demand for mental health care continues to rise, and shortages of providers-exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic have increased the need for innovative solutions. Artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a tool to support psychiatry by assisting with diagnosis, symptom monitoring, disease prediction, and patient education.
AI-based interventions include conversational chatbots that teach emotional coping skills, avatar therapy using computer-generated faces, and intelligent animal-like robots that provide interactive support. These technologies can help individuals with communication difficulties and expand access to mental health support through the internet, smartphone apps, and digital platforms.
Incorporating AI into psychiatric care offers the potential to complement human clinicians, enhance treatment accessibility, and provide personalized support. At the same time, careful consideration of ethical, privacy, and clinical implications is essential. These AI-driven tools represent a growing frontier in mental health care, with the potential to transform how support is delivered and experienced.
